Who We Are
How We Got Here
How did we get here? It all began in 2019 when our founder, Gabriele Rotondo, a lifelong fitness enthusiast and swimming instructor, noticed that there was no equipment or training system that allowed for high-load training in the water. So, he designed and developed the HydroTab, a special equipment that creates resistance in water, increasing the intensity and effectiveness of training. He named this new activity AquaResistance, as it is based on the principle of hydrodynamic resistance.
To validate and demonstrate the effectiveness of his idea, Gabriele decided to subject it to a scientific study, conducted as part of his experimental thesis at the University of Tor Vergata. During the thesis, Gabriele collaborated with the medical staff of the Italian National Water Polo Team, testing AquaResistance on a group of athletes and measuring their physical and physiological parameters before and after the workout.
The results were remarkable: the HydroTab showed significant improvements in maximal strength and muscular endurance, as well as promoting calorie burning, circulation and mood enhancement. Armed with this data, Gabriele patented the HydroTab and obtained CE certification, confirming its compliance with European safety and quality standards.

Start Cup “Tor Vergata” and Incubation at Lazio Innova
We then participated in the Start Cup 20/21, a competition organized by the University of Rome Tor Vergata to reward the most promising ideas in the field of innovation. Among the hundreds of projects presented, ours stood out for its originality and feasibility, ranking among the finalists.
Immediately after this challenge, we were offered the opportunity to join the incubation program at Lazio Innova, the in-house company of the Lazio Region that supports the development of innovative startups. Thanks to this experience, we were able to refine our business model, expand our network, and access resources and services that have been instrumental in our growth.
Vitamina G
2023 started with the victory of the “Vitamina G – Benessere e Movimento” call for proposals, promoted by the Lazio Region to fund innovative projects in the sports and health sectors. Thanks to this non-repayable grant, we were able to begin the production of the HydroTab and organize AquaResistance classes at various locations and times, reaching an ever-growing number of participants.
Today, we are an innovative startup that has created a unique product and activity, based on scientific principles and validated by studies and tests. Our goal is to introduce AquaResistance to as many people as possible, offering a workout that allows for intense physical exercise without stressing the joints, providing physical and mental benefits.
If you want to try this experience too, visit our dedicated page for classes, where you’ll find all the information on how to participate!
